Progress #4

I made a big progress and I learned to work with CFC's! First CFC's made me a little bit frustrated but when you play a hour with CFC's it's not that hard. Now I'm learning about form processing =]. I also think that (when I'm done with the Lynda.com movies) I'm going to use CFEclipse instead of Adobe Dreamweaver CS3. And last but not least I made a small site (whycoldfusion.naar.info) where you can find some info about why should you use Coldfusion instead of other server side languages!

Thanks and bye bye!

Back!

Hello everyone

I was on holiday in Bulgaria. It was very nice but I'm back now! I'm still a little bit tired of the flight but not enough to leave the computer xD.

Progress #3

Heya

Well tomorrow I'm going on holiday to Bulgaria so for the next two weeks you won't see any new posts =[. I've made a lot of progress in the last few days. I worked with database queries in Coldfusion! Well, Coldfusion really makes me happy, it makes everything looks so simple and the best of Coldfusion it is so simple as it looks likes!

Dreamweaver and Railo

I have some problems with Dreamweaver and Railo. I want to use the database options in Dreamweaver for Railo (Application => Databases) but that does not work with Railo. So I'm going to download CF8 Developer Edition for developping and Railo for showing my apps on localhost and such.

Progress #2

I forgotten to post a "progress post". Well I learnt how to install MySQL and configure it with Railo. I think I'm going to use CF + MySQL today =D, but I will post more about that today!

Thanks

Can't install MySQL

Well, I installed MySQL successful only I had some problems with configuring MySQL. It gave me the error:

Cannot Create Windows Service for MySQL. Error:0

The problem was I had XAMPP installed and XAMPP includes MySQL. I removed XAMPP and MySQL works like a charm right now =].

Progress #1

Heya

Yesterday I've made some progress. I've watched a part of the Lynda.com DVD! I've learnt how to use the tag and how to make a good website structure. They also suggest me to look at the Coldfusion 8 functions. Soon more posts! And remember if you see any grammar mistakes please report them to me!

My gear

Maybe some of you guys is interested what I'm using to learn and develop Coldfusion.

  • Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 with the CF8 plugin.
  • Railo 3.0 express edition.
  • The Coldfusion 8 essential training DVD from Lynda.com.
  • The Coldfusion IRC (irc://dalnet/coldfusion).
  • My brains =].
A year ago when I started with PHP and I didn't like Dreamweaver but now it rocks! That time I didn't use the functions like creating forms in HTML with Dreamweaver but since I do it really makes development faster! Hopefully Dreamweaver is also that powerful with CF.

Railo is a free version of CF, well thats how I feel about it =P. I couldn't get the 3.1 version working so I tried the 3.0 and it works like a charm.

When I got interested in Ruby on Rails I found the DVD "Ruby on Rails essential training" from Lynda.com. I bought/downloaded the DVD and start looking at it. I didn't knew something about the MVC stuff that days so I gave up. But I really liked the DVD. I already watched the CF8 DVD and I'm really happy with it =].

When I took a look at Rails I found out about IRC channels. Now I really like IRC channels for quick questions and such.

And of course my brains! Logical thinking is everything =D!

Please remember: If you find any grammar mistakes post a comment (also if you don't find any grammar mistakes =P) and I will fix them!

Welcome to my blog

Welcome to my blog!

I'm LearnColdfusion, coming from Holland and I'm 14 years old. So please don't blame me if my English sucks *shame*. I'm going to post my progress to learn Coldfusion(8) here. If you find any grammar mistakes please report them and I will fix them.

Thanks
